Sip Story: Love and Other Words x Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

✨LOVE AND OTHER WORDS by Christina Lauren✨

★★★★★

🧡🍷Drink: California Sauvignon Blanc

Thank you to my bestie Amanda for helping me pick the drink pairing for this book!! We read this one together and OMG we loved it!!

We ended up going with a Cali Sauvignon Blanc because on Macy and Elliot’s first reunion, they go out to dinner for Elliot’s birthday. Macy lets him pick out the wine and he goes with a Horse & Plow Sauvignon Blanc. I couldn’t find that same exact one so I went with one of my personal favs, Duckhorn’s Sauvignon Blanc - although it’s Napa Valley instead of Sonoma it’s still California wine country (where they grew up and met) so that counts, right? 🤪

🌟Review: This story completely took me by surprise!! I knew going into it that I would like it, but I did not expect to LOVE it and recommend it to literally everyone I know! 😅

First of all, the characters are just so lovable and you can’t help but root for them. Second of all, I love when stories flip between two time lines and I think this one did a great job of adding so much to the character development from past to present. Third, I thought the ending was going to be just a predictable romance ending but there was a shocking twist that completely took me by surprise!! I love it when that happens - Christina & Lauren you are so talented!!

I don’t want to give much else away, so if you haven’t read this one yet then add it to your TBR immediately!

Synopsis:

The story of the heart can never be unwritten.

Macy Sorensen is settling into an ambitious if emotionally tepid routine: work hard as a new pediatrics resident, plan her wedding to an older, financially secure man, keep her head down and heart tucked away.

But when she runs into Elliot Petropoulos—the first and only love of her life—the careful bubble she’s constructed begins to dissolve. Once upon a time, Elliot was Macy’s entire world—growing from her gangly bookish friend into the man who coaxed her heart open again after the loss of her mother...only to break it on the very night he declared his love for her.

Told in alternating timelines between Then and Now, teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more—spending weekends and lazy summers together in a house outside of San Francisco devouring books, sharing favorite words, and talking through their growing pains and triumphs. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love.
